Meta Plückebaum 1876 - 1954. Born in Germany in 1876 and studied art with the German painter, Hermann Emil Pohle. She was popular in European circles for her work in children's portraits, still life and animals, especially cats and dogs. Pluckebaum was highly successful in the United States for her humorous and sensitive etchings of cats and dogs, usually with hand colouring added. She also achieved acclaim as an illustrator of children's books.
Etching on cream paper, signed in pencil. Plate is 8½ inches by 10½ inches in a mount (mat) that is 16 inches by 20½. In good condition, the sheet is secured between the mount and backing.
