Roland Batchelor

Roland Batchelor R.W.S. 1889 - 1990. Attended evening classes given by Punch artist George Morrow at the Putney School of Art and studied under Harry Watson at the Regent Street Polytechnic and was later taught to etch by William Palmer Robins at the Central School of Arts and Crafts. Known by his middle name Roland, signs etchings "BWR Batchelor"

Exhibited at the RA from 1937 and elected to the Royal Society of Painters in Water-Colours (ARWS 1957, RWS 1966), he was the subject of a retrospective at the Bankside Gallery in 1987. He died on 6 October 1990.
